Interested in joining the snowsports team that covers the greatest vertical east of the Rockies?  We are looking for skiers and riders with a passion for snowsports and an interest in teaching.

Snowsports play a critical role in winter sports. Our dedicated Snowsports instructors guide guests of all ability levels of skiing and snowboarding in safe and effective learning technics while making sure everyone is having fun.

Snowsports Instructors at Whiteface work for approximately four months each year, from early December to late March. Whiteface is looking for Full-time and Part-Time.

Ages 14-15  |  Skier & Snowboarder  |   Bear Den Learning Center

The IIT program, which operates from Bear Den Learning Center at Whiteface, is for those individuals ages 14-15 years old that are interested in learning to be a ski or snowboard instructor. In return for their help with the children’s ski or snowboard group lessons, the program offers participants a SKI3 Seasons Pass and the opportunity to improve their own personal skiing and riding skills while learning the technical applications of teaching the sport.

Each program participant volunteers 20-25 days over the season. Their duties include helping 3-12 year-old students get ready for their lesson. They help with the 1.5- to 2-hour lessons out on the hill—riding the chairlifts, keeping the groups together and supporting the instructor with the lesson. Once the lesson is finished, Shadow Program participants help return the children to the indoor play part of their program. The lessons go out twice daily.

Over the course of the season, Shadow Program participants volunteer between 50-180 hours of their time depending on their commitment. The Shadow Program is a vital part of the Snowsports Program at Whiteface! Many of the participants in the Shadow Program become instructors when they turn 16 years old.
