Year-Round Positions

Resort Sales Supervisor

The Olympic Regional Development Authority is seeking a motivated, outgoing, and detail-oriented Resort Sales Supervisor to work at Whiteface Mountain.  The successful candidate will report to Whiteface Mountain’s Business Manager and will be responsible and accountable for managing Whiteface’s daily sales and ticketing system as well as supporting overall guest services as the resort. This is a full-time year-round position located in Wilmington, New York.

Located in the Adirondack Forest Preserve, Whiteface Mountain boasts the greatest vertical drop of any ski area east of the Rockies and proudly hosted the alpine events for the XIII Winter Olympic Games. Today, Whiteface offers 96 trails on 25 miles of skiable terrain over three peaks. In the summer, guests enjoy scenic rides on the Cloudsplitter Gondola, nature hikes, disc golf, or they may drive up the historic Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway and enjoy a 360 degree view from the summit.

Work is performed on-site at Whiteface Mountain. Weekend and Holiday work will be required as will work outside the normal workday as is necessary to fulfill obligations. Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):

• Performing timely and accurate opening and closing procedures which includes verifying deposits and counting the safe and cash banks;
• Executing Whiteface’s Internal Control procedures and recommending changes to improve accountability and efficiency;
• Running accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports needed for the venue;
• Regularly informing guest services staff of upcoming events, specials, sales, and other announcements relevant to the guest experience;
• Managing credit card dispute resolution;
• Keeping guest services/ticketing staff updated on pre-sold reservations and daily business expectations;
• Performing back-up support for all guest services staff as needed;
• Effectively implementing training processes for guest services/ticketing staff
• Scheduling and managing guest services/ticketing staff;
• Ensuring that the pick up boxes are functioning properly and set for each day of operations;
• Regularly meeting with guest services staff to discuss necessary safety policies, procedures, and related topics;
• Managing locker rentals and communicating with the locker vendor as needed;
• Managing Whiteface’s waiver program and following up with guests as appropriate;
• Implementing a customer service plan for guest services and assuring staff adheres to policies and procedures.
• Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have practical, demonstrated experience in sales, staff management, and basic accounting methods as well as excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to stay calm and diffuse guest issues in a rational proactive manner. Must also have a minimum of one year’s supervisory experience in the customer service field along with flexibility and a positive attitude. A professional appearance and manner as well as strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook is required.

Other Considerations:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong computer and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Post-secondary degree in Business Management or related field is preferred.  Knowledge of Siriusware or similar platform is a plus. Will train the right candidate

Compensation and Benefits:

This position is classified as a Grade 19 Department Supervisor 1 on the Olympic Authority’s Hourly Compensation Schedule, which carries an Entry Rate of $31.83 per hour. The Olympic Authority offers an excellent benefits package per the CSEA contract that includes paid leave (sick, vacation, and personal time), paid holidays, health, dental, and vision coverage, participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems, and participation in NYS Deferred Compensation.

Lift Maintenance Technician

The Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) is seeking a talented, motivated, mechanically inclined individual to work as a lift maintenance technician at Whiteface Mountain. The Lift Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of Whiteface lifts through monitoring, maintaining and repairing aerial ski lifts and conveyors in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The ideal candidate holds a competent mechanical/electrical skill set or shows aptitude to learn and practice in support of systems related to ski lift maintenance, operations, and safety.

Whiteface is in the northern Adirondacks and boasts the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies at 3,430’. Whiteface was the location for the alpine events of the 1980 Olympics and is home to 11 lifts that include an 8 person gondola, 2 detachable quads, 6 fixed grip lifts, and 2 enclosed conveyors.

Work is performed on-site and outdoors at Whiteface Mountain in all weather conditions. Some work may be performed at heights of up to 100 feet. Weekend and Holiday work will be required as will work outside the normal workday as is necessary to fulfill obligations. Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):

• Maintain, repair, operate and clean lift equipment under the direction of the Lift Maintenance Department Supervisor
• During operating season execute routine lift checks for any existing or potential problems, and plan maintenance and Daily checks include but are not limited to the following:
  • Visually inspect chairs
  • Line checks: check sheaves for problems such as bad bearings, liner wear, flat spots
  • Drive checks: check all machinery and mechanical parts of the drive station, including fluid levels, brake pads, and hoses
  • Return checks: check carriage, guide sheaves, counterweight cables, height of counterweight, return bull-wheel, and liner
  • Conduct necessary minor adjustments, preventive maintenance, and repair or replace worn/broken parts
  • When mechanical problems are reported, locate and diagnose problems, and plan and perform necessary repairs, and report/document all issues and repairs
  • Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done
• Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and shop work areas
• Execute off-season preventative maintenance and repair:
  • Conduct safety inspections and identify needs for maintenance and repair
    • Correct issues identified
  • Ensure lift are safe and operable for the upcoming season and will pass annual New York State Department of Labor inspection
  • Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done
  • Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and shop work area
  • Provide support to other operational departments as requests
• Adhere and contribute to all safety procedures and protocols and report identified hazards
• Perform other tasks as

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Should be a self-motivator who is able to work independently on assigned tasks as well work cooperatively as a member of the lift maintenance team.

Wage – Wage consideration is given for advanced skills and experience: with the entry rate at $21.54/hr. at a Grade 14 to $24.97/hr. at a Grade 16 for individuals with 3 years of mechanical/electrical experience or prior lift maintenance experience. Winter Positions

Whiteface Mountain is hiring for the 2026/27 winter season!   The following is a list of seasonal positions, typically available between the months of November to April only.  Full-time seasonal availability is preferred, but some positions may be available on a part-time basis.

Lift Attendant
Provide guests with safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of lifts.  Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps, having a basic knowledge of passes and lift tickets, ensuring proper gate entry, and assisting with crowd management.  Entry rate starts at $17.56/hour.

Experienced Groomer
We are seeking an experienced Snowcat Operator with a minimum of two (2) years of snowcat operating experience. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Whiteface Mountain’s trail system and grooming operations, as well as knowledge of preventative maintenance and daily equipment inspections. Experience operating grooming equipment safely and efficiently in varying terrain and weather conditions is required. Operate heavy machinery to groom ski trails and base areas as needed. Groomers work late-day or overnight shifts. The starting rate for this experienced position is $25.47/hour. Night shift employees also earn a shift differential of $0.75/hour for shifts starting between 3:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m., and $1.50/hour for hours worked between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Groomer
Operate heavy machinery to groom ski trails and base areas as needed. Groomers work a late day or overnight shift. Entry rate starts at $20.39/hour. The night shift earns a shift differential of $.75/hour for shifts starting between 3pm-12am, and $1.50/hour for hours worked between 12am-6am.

Snowmaker
Snowmakers at Whiteface can choose to work on a day shift (6am-6pm) or night shift (6pm-6am) schedule. Primary duties include checking snowmaking equipment (valves, water lines, etc.) and repositioning snow guns on the mountain. Knowledge of Whiteface ski trails is helpful. Entry rate starts at $20.39/hour. The night shift earns a differential of $.75/hour for hours worked between 6pm-12am, and $1.50/hour for hours worked from 12am-6am.

Guest Service Representative
Provide outstanding service to guests, especially when a high level of assistance is needed or issues arise, perform all duties of a ticket seller plus assist with general questions, and have a strong knowledge of the mountain and local area. Entry rate starts at $18.94/hour.

Rental Attendant
Greet guests and assist with proper fitting of ski and snowboard boots, help with light cleaning and organization. Entry rate starts at $17.56/hour.

Rentals Technician
Perform ski repairs, ski adjustment and tuning, and other maintenance as needed. Assist guests with technical questions. Entry rate starts at $20.39/hour.

Reservationist
Working out of the Snowsports School at Bear Den Lodge, Reservationists answer phones, respond to email messages, and assist walk-in guests with planning ski and snowboard lessons that will best fit their needs and interests. Entry rate starts at $18.94/hour.

Ticket Seller
Ticket Sellers greet guests, sell lift tickets, season passes, frequent skier products, etc., answer phones, while providing outstanding customer service! Entry rate starts at $17.56/hour.

Lift Attendant
Provide guests with safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of lifts. Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps, having a basic knowledge of passes and lift tickets, ensuring proper gate entry, and assisting with crowd management. Entry rate starts at $17.56/hour.

Parking Attendant
Be the first friendly face our guests see! Help provide a safe and smooth flow of traffic, direct vehicles to parking spots, and help maintain cleanliness and safety of parking areas and sidewalks. Entry rate starts at $17.56/hour.

Ski & Snowboard Instructor
Help children and adults learn to love to ski and snowboard, or to advance their skills! No certification is necessary, we can help you work toward becoming a PSIA/AASI certified instructor if you are interested. Entry rate for uncertified instructors is $16.32/hour. Actual pay per lesson varies based on factors such as group size, age, private lessons assignments and requests. Pay for certified instructors starts between $17.56 to $21.97/hour.

Shuttle Bus Driver
Transport guests between parking lots to lodges. Shuttle drivers who hold CDL with passenger endorsement start at $25.47/hour. Non-CDL driver start at $20.39/hour.

Terrain Park Crew
Work with mountain operations to build and maintain terrain park features to maximize fun for a variety of skill levels. Entry rate starts at $17.56/hour.

Shuttle Driver | Pay rate $25.47/hour CDL-B with passenger endorsement preferred
Spend your summer driving the most scenic road imaginable as a shuttle driver, transporting guests from the Whiteface Base Lodge up and down the Whiteface Veterans’ memorial Highway. Four 10 hour shifts with 3 days off late June through mid-October. Weekend availability required.

Ticket Sellers | Pay rate from $17.56/hour depending on experience
Serve as the first point of contact for resort guests by processing lift ticket, gondola, and activity pass sales with accuracy and a friendly demeanor. Strong customer service skills and basic cash handling experience are essential for success in this fast-paced, guest-facing role.

While a certain level of skiing/riding skill is encouraged, it is not required to be a great Mountain Host.
