Year-Round Positions
Plumber
General:
Perform general plumbing duties and provide maintenance support in a variety of buildings and structures throughout Whiteface Mountain.
Job Summary:
Regular duties include, but are not limited to:
- Service, troubleshooting, repair and installation of plumbing systems and equipment
- Monitoring potable water systems
- Using machinery documentation to communicate professionally with vendors on technical information and parts acquisition
- Support the priorities of the Electrical department and overall needs of the venue
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 or more years of practical experience, and/or documented completion of technical courses
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and or lead/supervise work crews on projects
- Advanced understanding/ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Adherence to safe working practices, and use of personal protective equipment
- Must be prepared to work outdoors, in all weather conditions
- A valid NYS driver’s license
- Ability to safely operate a variety of vehicles/machinery (such as trucks, snowmobiles, snowcats, telehandlers, backhoes, loaders, man lifts, )
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Wage/Salary:
The starting rate is $26.89/hr.; benefits pursuant to CSEA Contract including health, dental, and vision insurances; paid time off; participation in NYS and Employees Retirement Systems; and the ability to participate in New York State Deferred Compensation, a qualified 457-b retirement savings plan.

Lift Maintenance Technician
The Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) is seeking a talented, motivated, mechanically inclined individual to work as a lift maintenance technician at Whiteface Mountain. The Lift Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of Whiteface lifts through monitoring, maintaining and repairing aerial ski lifts and conveyors in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The ideal candidate holds a competent mechanical/electrical skill set or shows aptitude to learn and practice in support of systems related to ski lift maintenance, operations, and safety.
Whiteface is in the northern Adirondacks and boasts the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies at 3,430’. Whiteface was the location for the alpine events of the 1980 Olympics and is home to 12 lifts that include an 8 person gondola, 2 detachable quads, 7 fixed grip lifts, and 2 enclosed conveyors.
Work is performed on-site and outdoors at Whiteface Mountain in all weather conditions. Some work may be performed at heights of up to 100 feet. Weekend and Holiday work will be required as will work outside the normal workday as is necessary to fulfill obligations. Occasional travel may be required.
Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):
- Maintain, repair, operate and clean lift equipment under the direction of the Lift Maintenance Department Supervisor
- During operating season execute routine lift checks for any existing or potential problems, and plan maintenance and Daily checks include but are not limited to the following:
- Visually inspect chairs
- Line checks: check sheaves for problems such as bad bearings, liner wear, flat spots
- Drive checks: check all machinery and mechanical parts of the drive station, including fluid levels, brake pads, and hoses
- Return checks: check carriage, guide sheaves, counterweight cables, height of counterweight, return bull-wheel, and liner
- Conduct necessary minor adjustments, preventive maintenance, and repair or replace worn/broken parts
- When mechanical problems are reported, locate and diagnose problems, and plan and perform necessary repairs, and report/document all issues and repairs
- Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done
- Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and shop work areas
- Execute off-season preventative maintenance and repair:
- Conduct safety inspections and identify needs for maintenance and repair
- Correct issues identified
- Ensure lift are safe and operable for the upcoming season and will pass annual New York State Department of Labor inspection
- Maintain written logs and records of all maintenance and repair work done
- Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and shop work area
- Provide support to other operational departments as requests
- Adhere and contribute to all safety procedures and protocols and report identified hazards

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Other Considerations
Should be a self-motivator who is able to work independently on assigned tasks as well work cooperatively as a member of the lift maintenance team.
Wage – Wage consideration is given for advanced skills and experience: with the entry rate at $21.54/hr. at a Grade 14 to $24.97/hr. at a Grade 16 for individuals with 3 years of mechanical/electrical experience or prior lift maintenance experience. Whiteface Mountain is no longer hiring for the 2025/26 winter season! The following is a list of seasonal positions, typically available between the months of November to April only. Full-time seasonal availability is preferred, but some positions may be available on a part-time basis.
INDOOR POSITIONS
Guest Services
Guest Services agents answer phones, respond to email messages, and assist walk-in guests with their ski and snowboard day and assist with any issues, questions, or concerns. Entry rate starts at $18.54/hour.
Reservationist
Working out of the Snowsports School at Bear Den Lodge, Reservationists answer phones, respond to email messages, and assist walk-in guests with planning ski and snowboard lessons that will best fit their needs and interests. Entry rate starts at $18.54/hour.
OUTDOOR POSITIONS
Drop Off Zone Greeter
Direct traffic in a busy drop off area at the main lodge and Bear Den, maintaining an efficient flow of traffic, while directing guests and answering questions in a helpful, courteous manner. Entry rate starts at $18.54/hour.
Lift Attendant
Provide guests with safe, efficient, and courteous loading and unloading of lifts. Attendants are responsible for maintaining ramps, having a basic knowledge of passes and lift tickets, ensuring proper gate entry, and assisting with crowd management. Entry rate starts at $17.19/hour.
Ski & Snowboard Instructor
Help children and adults learn to love to ski and snowboard, or to advance their skills! No certification is necessary, we can help you work toward becoming a PSIA certified instructor if you are interested. Entry rate for uncertified instructors is $15.97/hour, but actual pay per lesson varies based on factors such as group size, age, and requests. Pay for certified instructors starts between $17.19 to $21.51/hour.

Summer Positions

Shuttle Driver | Pay rate $24.94/hour CDL-C with passenger endorsement required
Spend your summer driving the most scenic road imaginable as a shuttle driver, transporting guests from the Whiteface Base Lodge up and down the Whiteface Veterans’ memorial Highway. Four 10 hour shifts with 3 days off late June though mid-October. Weekend availability required.
Trail Maintenance | Pay rate from $20.39/hour depending on experience
Maintain and improve hiking and ski trails throughout the resort’s summer season, including clearing debris, repairing erosion damage, and installing signage. This physically active outdoor role requires comfort working on varied terrain in all weather conditions.
Ticket Sellers | Pay rate from $17.56/hour depending on experience
Serve as the first point of contact for resort guests by processing lift ticket, gondola, and activity pass sales with accuracy and a friendly demeanor. Strong customer service skills and basic cash handling experience are essential for success in this fast-paced, guest-facing role.
Retail Associates | Pay rate from $17.56/hour depending on experience
Assist guests in resort retail shops by providing product knowledge, processing sales transactions, and maintaining an organized and visually appealing store environment. A passion for the outdoors and a positive, customer-first attitude are key to thriving in this role.

In addition to free orientation tours, they offer information on terrain, facilities, lessons, and rentals. While a certain level of skiing/riding skill is encouraged, it is not required to be a great Mountain Host. The best Mountain Hosts are those who love the sport of skiing/riding, enjoy sharing it with others, and want to help our guests have a safe, memorable, and enjoyable experience at Whiteface.
