Every year, Whiteface invests in the mountain experience — and this season is no exception. From expanded snowmaking capacity to refreshed glades, upgraded infrastructure, and new amenities, we’re making significant improvements across the property to enhance your time on and off the slopes. Here’s a look at what’s in store for the upcoming season.
Snowmaking
This season, Whiteface’s snowmaking system is getting a major upgrade. Sixty new HKD guns have arrived and are being placed across both new and existing terrain — expanding coverage on Upper Parkway, Upper Thruway, Wilderness, and Mountain Run, with resizing work on Approach, Excelsior, Otter, Bobcat, Moose, Boreen, and the Wilmington Trail. Behind the scenes, crews are laying 24,000 feet of new pipe, replacing aging infrastructure on Upper Parkway, Upper Thruway, Easy Street, Upper Boreen, Boreen, Essex, and Upper Northway, rerouting pipe at the base of the Wilmington Trail for smoother operations, and running a new line into the Bear Den base area. Rounding out the upgrades are sixteen new fan guns — three replacements and thirteen brand-new towers — strategically positioned at the intersection of Upper and Lower Northway, the top of Victoria, Summit Express, along Easy Street, around Legacy Lodge, at the bottom of Draper’s, near Boreen, in the Bear Den base area, and at the bottom of Bear. The fan guns arrive this fall and will be flown into place by helicopter in October.
Trails
On-mountain, crews are making improvements to Boreen Glade cleanup is already underway across Hoot Owl, Bobcat, 10th Mountain, Cloudsplitter, and Deer Valley, with Rands and Sugar Valley up next.
Area Maintenance
Mountain buildings and infrastructure are getting a fresh coat of stain throughout the property, alongside a large-scale signage improvement project and a full renovation of Bear Den.
Also in the Works
Whiteface is adding a new Lookout Mountain Patrol building, renovating the drop-off island, and rolling out new terrain park features.
