Legacy Lodge Deck Party

Get your eclipse on at the Legacy Lodge (Whiteface’s mid-mountain lodge, accessible only by The Notch chairlift for non-skiers) viewing party. The Lodge is free for Season Pass Holders or those with a lift ticket, available for skiers and non-skiers. The $40 lift ticket (quantities are limited) is available to take the new Notch lift (non-skiers only) to the Legacy Lodge (catch the lift at the Bear Den). There will be food and drink specials. The Legacy Lodge will be cleared at 4:45 pm. No pets, coolers, outside alcohol, or saving space allowed. *A day ticket or a season pass is required to access Legacy Lodge for both skiers and non-skiers.* Tickets are on sale now.

Exclusive Cloudsplitter Gondola for Top-of-the Mountain Viewing

The Cloudsplitter Gondola Eclipse viewing tickets have SOLD OUT. Only guests with this ticket will be permitted to stay at Little Whiteface for the Eclipse. The most exclusive ticket in town! From 2:10 pm to 4:45 pm, a limited $50 special viewing ticket for foot passengers only will be available for access to Little Whiteface. The ticket includes a roundtrip Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride, with access to the Little Whiteface area. Tickets will be for sale online and limited to 125 people. Please note that this ticket cannot be combined with ANY other discount or offer (is not included with the Legacy Sites Passport, Season Passes, or Season Pass Perks).

Tickets for the viewing area at Legacy Lodge, Whiteface’s mid-mountain lodge, are still available for $40 for skiers and non-skiers. The Cloudspin Bar and Grill viewing party in the Base Lodge, featuring Annie in the Water, is free to the public and does not require a ticket.

The partial eclipse kicks off at 2:12 pm, with totality following at 3:24 pm and the maximum eclipse occurring at 3:26 pm. As a safety precaution, all lifts will close at 2:00 pm, including the Cloudsplitter Gondola, for skiers and riders.

Complimentary safety eclipse glasses will be provided as supplies last.

Please note that the Veterans Memorial Highway will NOT be open at this time.

 

Operational Details

Solar Eclipse Operational Details- Monday, April 8th

Help us get ready for this once in a lifetime astronomical event by carefully reading the following details so that you have all of the information you need before your arrival on eclipse day. We have been actively refining our plans as the event gets closer, all operational updates can be found here.

We ask that all guests not planning on skiing who are arriving just for the eclipse budget in more than an hour of extra time for parking, picking up your lift ticket at one of our pick-up boxes, waiting in line and arriving to your designated viewing site.

PARKING

We expect a large volume of traffic at the mountain on eclipse day which will result in busy parking areas. Parking will be free on a first-come first-serve basis. Our parking attendants will be working to park cars efficiently, but we will need to limit access to the resort if all parking lots are full. If coming with a group, we strongly encourage carpooling.

Non-skiing season passholders and anyone who purchased a $40 lift ticket can access the eclipse via the Notch Lift, based out of the Bear Den Lodge. They should either park in one of the Bear Den parking lots or take one of our Whiteface shuttles over to the Bear Den Lodge. Skiers and riders may ski/ride to Legacy Lodge and either download on The Notch or ski/ride down after totality.

LIFT OPERATIONS

Our usual hours of operation have been adjusted for Monday, April 8th.

  • All scheduled lifts will open at their usual time.
  • 2:00pm- All mountain lifts close for skiing.
  • 2:10pm- The Cloudsplitter Gondola & The Notch re-open to facilitate foot-traffic movement to designated viewing areas for those with the respective lift tickets.

OTHER ITEMS/SAFETY NOTES

  • Complimentary safety eclipse glasses will be provided as supplies last.
  • Uphill travel is prohibited.
  • All trails, the Legacy Lodge, and the top of Little Whiteface will be swept thoroughly by Ski Patrol after closing at 2pm. For safety reasons, no sheltering-in-place will be allowed.
  • The Cloudsplitter Gondola Eclipse Viewing Tickets have SOLD OUT. Only guests with this ticket will be permitted to stay at Little Whiteface for the Eclipse.
    • No pets, alcohol, saving spots will be allowed.
    • Please note: There are NO restrooms at the top of the Cloudsplitter Gondola.
    • The deck at the top of Little Whiteface will not be open for the foreseeable future. The Cloudsplitter Gondola will still be running to the top of Little Whiteface for guests with the Cloudsplitter Gondola Viewing Tickets. Only the deck itself will be closed.
  • Guests should keep in mind that temperatures can drop as much as 15 degrees in totality.
  • Remember: Looking directly at the eclipse without proper eye protection is never safe. Eclipse Glasses are NOT regular sunglasses. No matter how dark, regular sunglasses are not safe for viewing the sun during the eclipse.
  • Proper ID is required to purchase alcohol at any of our food and beverage areas.
  • Appropriate winter footwear is strongly recommended. You may be standing on snow to view the eclipse.
  • Please note there is no overnight camping in our parking lots.

TRAFFIC

  • Plan for traffic leaving Whiteface after the eclipse, make sure to fill your gas tank prior to arriving at Whiteface. There could be significant delays.

CELL SIGNAL

  • Be prepared for interruptions in cell phone service due to dead zones and increased cell usage in the area. Have a backup communications plan with your party.

Cloudspin Bar & Grill presented by Saratoga Eagle – Third Floor Base Lodge

The Cloudspin Bar & Grill presented by Saratoga Eagle is located on the third level of the Main Base Lodge, and features après ski fare along with a selection of local cold brews and beverages. Visit the Cloudspin for an impressive pub-style experience featuring our “Maple Smoke BBQ Co.” menu of award-winning wings with a variety of house-made sauces, dry-rubbed brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken and sausages all smoked on-site slope side with local maple wood! Cloudspin also features grilled burgers, nachos, a variety of soups and salads as well as options for the kiddos.
