Whiteface is known as The Olympic Mountain, and fittingly, it’s a place that develops Olympic talent. In fact, our very own Andrew Weibrecht, two-time Olympic medalist, grew up learning how to ski and race on Whiteface Mountain. Learning how to ski and getting better at it is fun and starts new family traditions. Whiteface Mountain offers a variety of lessons and programs, from beginner to skill-based, including:

Just for Kids – Bear Den Mountain is our kid-friendly starter hill where toddlers and teenagers new to the sport can learn how to ski and ride with impunity. Parents can drop off their wee ones, take the shuttle – which runs all day between the two campuses – over to the main base lodge, and meet up for lunch via the Bunny Hutch chairlift. Having a separate area for beginners makes Whiteface unique among ski resorts – one of the many reasons why it’s such a great experience for newbies. That and the incredible instructors that will make sure every moment of each lesson is safe, and fun.

Just for Kids Lessons & Programs – Kids are separated by age groups and lesson type to ensure that they have an awesome time. Play-n-Ski offers 4-6 year olds the opportunity to just be outside skiing and having fun with instructors, and combines indoor play time as well. Riglet Park lessons provide beginner snowboard lessons, and Future Medalist is an intro skiing-only program for beginner to intermediate skiers. Additional kid categories include the Cloudsplitter Club and Junior Adventure.

Parallel from the Start – Our signature program for teaching those age 13+ how to ski. We are so certain that this program will teach you how to ski, that we guarantee it. Yup, after taking our 3-day program, we guarantee that you’ll get to the top of the mountain, or we’ll give you free lessons until you do. If you’re looking at converting your surfing skills to snow, we also have a program called Learn to Snowboard that will take you thru the basics of riding on beginner terrain.

Private Lesson – If you’ve never been on skis before, or have and are looking to learn how to tele ski or just get better at skiing black diamond trails, consider a private, one-on-one ski lesson. Whiteface Mountain’s ski instructors are experts with years of training and certification. Build confidence and have fun with our variety of private lesson options. From one hour lessons to a full six hours of skiing, Whiteface Mountain wants one thing – for you to fall in love with skiing, and we’ll do everything we can to woo you.

Adaptive Program – Ski Without Limits is the Adaptive Snowsports Program offered at Whiteface. Open to adults and children with disabilities who want to learn how to ski and snowboard, lessons range from never been on the slopes to advanced techniques and racing.

So where does this leave you? With zero excuses left. Whether learning how to ski or ride is one your bucket list or one of your New Year’s resolutions – Whiteface Mountain’s Learn to Ski & Ride programs will help you check it off of your list.
